Here’s something for Mayor Spano to smile about!

Yonkers has been ranked among the happiest cities in America, standing out as the 41st on the list, according to a 2025 WalletHub study. The city achieved an overall score of 59.3 out of 100 in the analysis. 

WalletHub compared 182 of the largest cities in the U.S. across 29 different well-being indicators, such as depression rates, income levels, physical activity rates, and the degree of community engagement.

Yonkers ranked higher above New York City (68). Rochester (136) and Buffalo (136).

The recent study also revealed that Yonkers received its highest score in emotional and physical well-being, ranking 23rd in the nation. 

Meanwhile, New York City ranked ninth in WalletHub’s analysis, with a total score of 52.5. There were three other cities from New York that also made the list. Hawaii led the state rankings with a score of 68.7.

Last year, Wallet Hub ranked Yonkers among the ten safest cities in the U.S. Yonkers was ranked sixth, with an overall score of 68.75-out-of-100. Rochester, New York City and Buffalo were much further down the list, coming in at 95, 123 and 140, respectively.
