Mayor Mike Spano and Yonkers Parks Department Celebrate Completion of Pickett Park Upgrades

Continuing his commitment to enhancing and expanding the city’s public parks, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano joined with Yonkers Parks, Recreation & Conservation Commissioner Steve Sansone, staff, residents, and community members on October 24 re-open Joseph Pickett Memorial Park at 230 Hawthorne Avenue. Renovations to the small neighborhood park are the first major improvement of the park in over 30 years.

The new Pickett Park features upgraded recreational amenities, enhanced safety, and expanded green space, offering families and neighbors a refreshed outdoor destination.

Pickett Park improvements include:

  • New playground equipment
  • New safety surfacing
  • New shade canopy
  • New water feature
  • Improved site work and new site furniture
  • New basketball court
  • Additional greenspace, landscaping, and tree work

A dozen Yonkers parks were renovated this year and, currently, another five neighborhood parks are in design work.
